Karis Joyner Coppin State University ’26, Major: Political Science
Karis Joyner is a sophomore at Coppin State University, majoring in political science. This summer, she will be helping the Office of Alumni Relations with event strategy and engagement with the most recent graduates at JHU. Karis is motivated by her passions to serve the public with her team.
What drew you to this opportunity?
What drew me to ORIGINS was the chance to broaden my understanding of the workplace and create lasting connections with other students and faculty on campus and in the program.
What are you most excited about during your internship?
I am excited to work with my project leads, get to know my fellow interns, and soak in what this opportunity offers.
What is your most memorable college experience?
My most memorable college experience would have to be homecoming.
Where do you want to be in 10 years, and how can this internship help you get there?
In ten years, I see myself in the workforce, hopefully putting my degrees to good use. I think this internship will help me be more confident in a work environment and teach me how to create healthy work relationships.
What does philanthropy mean to you?
Philanthropy means to give your time, money, or respects to a cause without necessarily looking for anything in return. It’s more about contributing to a cause than recognition, even though you will most likely get recognized for it.
What excites you most about spending your summer in Baltimore?
What excites me the most about a Baltimore summer is that snowball stands are open.
What is something you are passionate about?
I’m passionate about learning new things.
