What path brought you to Johns Hopkins?
My entire career has been preparing me for my current role. I started as a development coordinator at Brown University and quickly gravitated toward stewardship work due to the writing involved. Eventually, I took on medicine-based stewardship roles at Penn Medicine and Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine. The opportunity to join FJHM and have a central role in developing stewardship strategy at a world-class academic medical center was truly a dream come true.
What do you like most about your job?
The gifts made by our grateful patient donors and their families are sometimes tied to challenging health situations they have experienced — making these gifts personal in the truest sense. Hearing how one of our stewardship pieces moved a donor to tears lets us know we are helping them connect with the purpose and meaning behind their generosity. It’s gratifying to play a small role in helping them realize the impact they are creating.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
I have been cultivating a container garden on our terrace for a couple of years. This year was my first year growing dahlias, and I am hooked! My flower garden is my happy place.
