Keturah Halle is a rising senior at the University of Maryland College Park majoring in social data science. This summer, Keturah will support Kasia Batorski at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She hopes to learn how innovations can support impactful research and community-driven initiatives.

What drew you to this opportunity?
As I continue to grow in the field of Data Science, this opportunity is a great chance to gain real-world experience, learn from professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects. I’m excited to expand my knowledge and take the next step in my career.
What are you most excited about during your internship?
I am most excited to learn, grow, and collaborate with others from various fields, bringing together different perspectives and skillsets. I look forward to working alongside my peers within my cohort while supporting each other as we face new challenges.
What is your most memorable college experience?
My most memorable college experience thus far has been when I was the Head of Community Service Chair for the African Students Association (ASA) and was able to partner with three campus organizations to host a clothing drive. We collected and donated more than 100 items to support “3-Brothers-1-Mission,” a nonprofit serving children and families in Ghana.
Where do you want to be in 10 years, and how can this internship help you get there?
Beyond building my career in Data Science and Technology, I also see myself giving back and supporting youth the same way others have supported me. This internship will help me grow by learning from mentors and building a network that will guide me as I continue to advance.
What does philanthropy mean to you?
Philanthropy means to give selflessly, without expecting anything in return, for the betterment of the communities here and beyond.
What excites you most about spending your summer in Baltimore?
As a Prince George’s County native, I’m excited to explore and experience all the rich culture that Baltimore has to offer.
