What brought you to the ORIGINS program, and what do you hope to take with you when it’s over?
Johns Hopkins has such a strong presence in the community and is known for the impact it makes. I was really interested in being part of an organization doing meaningful work at that scale. Through ORIGINS, I hope to gain real-world experience, build professional skills, and learn how my work can contribute to something bigger than myself.
Tell us about a moment, person, or experience that’s shaped who you are today.
My dad has shaped who I am more than anyone. He is my role model for hard work and commitment, and the reason I became interested in information systems. He has always encouraged me to stay curious and keep learning, and watching his dedication has pushed me to set high standards for myself and take my goals seriously.
If you could fund one thing — at your school, in your community, or worldwide — what would it be and why?
I would fund a program focused on getting fresh, healthy food to food-insecure communities. Ever since I learned about food deserts in high school, I’ve been involved in efforts to address that problem. Food insecurity is a serious issue in Maryland, particularly in Baltimore and on the Eastern Shore, where I have family. Everyone deserves access to affordable, nutritious food, and too many communities still lack it.
