Hannah Powell
Hannah Powell is a rising senior at Morgan State University, majoring in strategic communications. This summer, she is supporting alumni and grateful patient fundraising with the School of Nursing. Hannah is interested in event planning and alumni engagement, where she can use her problem-solving and network-building skills.
What drew you to this opportunity?
The life-changing work Johns Hopkins has done. I want to help others in need and make a positive difference in their lives. Johns Hopkins transparent stewardship and progressive mindset made me want to be a part of their mission and fulfill mine.
What are you most excited about during your internship?
I am most excited to learn, network, and create solutions to any challenges my department may have.
What is your most memorable college experience?
My most memorable college experience was planning and executing the pep rally during homecoming week this past school year.
Where do you want to be in 10 years, and how can this internship help you get there?
In 10 years, I would like to be in a professional position at a well-established and respected company. I believe the connections I am making and the training I am taking will be tools I can apply to my future endeavors.
What does philanthropy mean to you?
To me, philanthropy is realizing that the purpose of life is to help others, so find ways to give when you can.
What excites you most about spending your summer in Baltimore?
What excites me most about living in Baltimore is learning its history and exploring attractions.
What is your biggest takeaway from what you’ve learned so far?
There are plenty of resources that can help me achieve my goals. I have to take those opportunities to make it happen.
