Jasmine Tate is a graduate from Towson University with a B.S. in public health. She is supporting Surgery Programs (Depts. What drew you to this opportunity?

I was looking to gain more marketing experience and a family friend sent me the flyer because she knew I had an interest in JHU as well.

What are you most excited about during your internship?

Meeting new friends and gaining more knowledge.

What is your most memorable college experience?

My most memorable college experience is when I created a song with my friends in our dorm room.

Where do you want to be in 10 years, and how can this internship help you get there?

In 10 years, I am unsure as to where I will be, but I hope to be happy. This internship can help me because it is making my dreams come to life.

What does philanthropy mean to you?

Philanthropy means to be continuously helping the community for a good cause.

What excites you most about spending your summer in Baltimore?

I have already been living in Baltimore for some time now, but I am excited to get to know the other interns and hang out with them.

How has your experience with the ORIGINS program been so far?

My time with Johns Hopkins University has been interesting. I wasn’t really aware of the department that I would be working with prior to my start, but working with the fund was not what I expected. The Surgery Programs team has been nothing but welcoming and kind to me throughout my time, and I am beyond grateful to have met Deanna especially. She always makes sure I feel comfortable with what I am doing and has truly taken the time to build a relationship with me. This internship has introduced me to a different world than what I envisioned my JHU experience to be and I am appreciative of this.

What is something you are passionate about?

I am passionate about music. I can talk about music and my vinyl collection all day.

Please share one fun fact about yourself!

A fun fact about me is that I can talk with my mouth closed.
