Alexis Field
Johns Hopkins University will mark its 150th anniversary in 2026, and assisting with the sesquicentennial celebration is Alexis Field, project manager. She says, “Over the next two and half years, the 150th team will be dedicated to making the event as monumental as possible.”
Alexis joined Hopkins in 2023, after wanting to move to the region for nearly a decade. After she first visited Baltimore at 18, she knew it was going to be her home one day.
“I made it my ‘mission’ to move here,” says Alexis. “Baltimore truly offers the best of all worlds. It is close to the water, rich in diversity, has amazing food, friendly people, the O’s, and endless opportunities. And, it occasionally snows!”
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Alexis earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She is expanding her expertise through various courses and certifications focused on project management, training, change management, LEAN Six Sigma, and leadership.
What does your job involve that others might not realize?
Every day is exciting and challenging, and I truly learn something new every single day!
One of the things I love the most about my current role and that continues to surprise me is that I frequently have the opportunity to interact with people across the entire university; including alumni, faculty, staff, students, and the Baltimore Community. Engaging with such a diverse group is both inspiring and energizing.
What brought you to Johns Hopkins?
My top priority during my job search was finding an organization that aligned with my values. After months of research, refining my resume, thoughtful discussions with my mentor, and some serious soul searching… Johns Hopkins consistently rose to the top of my list.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
One of my proudest achievements is making the move away from my hometown in the Finger Lakes, New York, and leaving behind everything I’ve always known — my incredibly close-knit family, my best friends of more than 20 years, and a career I truly loved.
Change is hard, but it’s essential for growth. I’m deeply thankful for the support of those around me, especially my Hopkins family, and for the decisions I’ve made that have led me to the place I am today.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
I’m fascinated with cooking and experimenting with new recipes. I enjoy golfing, skiing, and camping. I have always been drawn to the water — boating, fishing, tubing, and packing fun snacks for the boat. My entire family would spend summers on the St. Lawrence River, where my days were filled with everything I love: boat rides, card games, campfires, and endless laughter with my family.
Please share something we don’t know about you.
I’m a passionate person. When something intrigues me, I dive in headfirst whether it’s board games, the criminal justice system, mastering Microsoft Power Automate and Excel, studying cat behavior, exploring meteorology, learning about religions, or delving into videography. I believe the world is our oyster, and we can do anything we set our minds to.
