Meagan Arnold

Introduced at a young age to philanthropy, Meagan Arnold was encouraged by her aunt, a former development officer, to explore the professional path of alumni relations and development. Meagan joined the Auburn University advancement office her senior year of college as a “Tiger Giving Officer.” In her role, Meagan worked in communications, stewardship, alumni relations, and frontline fundraising.
“I absolutely loved it,” says Meagan. “One of my favorite parts of the job was cold calling donors. I was motivated by their giving, and I loved hearing their Auburn stories. One day, I aim to be a development officer.”
Megan graduated from Auburn in 2024, earning her bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minor in philanthropy and nonprofit studies. She’s currently pursuing a master’s degree in nonprofit administration, an online program, with a focus on development, from Louisiana State University at Shreveport.
An opportunity to work at Johns Hopkins brought Meagan to Baltimore. She’s the Sr. Administrative Coordinator for Campaign Strategy and Engagement. Meagan is responsible for planning events and creating materials that inform DAR staff about the comprehensive campaign.
“I always wanted to live in a city as a young professional, and Baltimore has been amazing,” she says. “I grew up in the suburbs of Greenville, South Carolina. Baltimore is a fun change of pace.”
What does your job involve that others might not realize?
I manage the calendar of Ashlyn Sowell, Associate Vice President for Campaign Strategy & Engagement, while planning multiple meetings and events. I’m a point person for connecting teams across DAR. I’ve also had the opportunity to meet people throughout the institution, which has been amazing as a young professional.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Outside of graduating from college, I’m proud of planning the September 18th All-DAR staff event. I worked with an amazing team. I learned so much from the experience. After planning the event, I have become more confident in my management and event planning skills.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy watching sports, art projects, and being outside. I’m a die-hard Auburn fan. My dad and I are big Washington Capitals fans; I’m excited for hockey to back. Since moving to Baltimore, I have started to cheer for the Ravens and follow the NFL more closely than when I lived down South. I paint and color in my downtime as well. I enjoy being able to bring my ideas to life. I also love to hike. I’m open to suggestions for places to visit in the area.
Please share something we don’t know about you.
Before my development career, I wanted to work in sports marketing. In college, I worked at Super Bowl LVII in Phoenix, Arizona. I was an usher during the game and was lucky to have a view of the game for the second quarter, halftime, and the third quarter. I also worked the fan experience. I managed the 40-yard dash and saw adults to toddlers run down the turf.
