Professional Growth
Learn & Grow
Whether you’re seeking skills to better perform your current work or want to acquire know-how for your next opportunity at Hopkins, we’ve got a host of resources, from online and in-person classes to books, podcasts, and more. Our Talent Management & HR team also can help managers and supervisors with performance management, employee engagement, and organization development to optimize team effectiveness.
As a research institution, we’re all about learning—and we want to ensure that faculty and staff at every level have ample opportunity to pursue professional growth through a variety of avenues. Semi-yearly the Learning and Development team publishes a Training Catalog. This catalog details the classes and learning sessions offered to DAR staff throughout the year. These sessions are designated and facilitated by staff, many of who are members of our three DAR Committees: TAG, DRIVE, and RISE. Please click the link below if you would like to read about the sessions we are offering in the Winter and Spring of 2022 and read below about our three DAR committees. For DAR Staff, the links in the catalog are clickable and direct staff to sign up.

TAG
The Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Training Advisory Group (TAG) works in partnership with DAR’s full-time training team to create a wide range of professional development opportunities for our staff at all levels and in all roles.
TAG members identify priority training needs, serve as subject matter experts and, if they want to, as facilitators. Their contributions include courses specifically for Administrative Professionals and Frontline Fundraisers and Alumni Relations Officers, as well as many offerings relevant for all staff including monthly Friday Fuel discussions and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training developed in partnership with the DRIVE and RISE Committees.
In addition, TAG plays a major role in the planning and execution of our annual DAR Talent Conference (DARTC) which is a week of development opportunities designed around three pillars: Hopkins Knowledge, Professional Development and Personal Enrichment.
RISE
Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) at The Johns Hopkins University, is committed to recognizing, stewarding, and engaging our employees. Engaged employees have a greater impact in our charge to support Johns Hopkins University.
The goal of this committee will be to offer programs and opportunities that value, recognize, and engage our colleagues.
RISE will advise leadership and provide recommendations to create and enhance our culture of engagement.
To help strengthen DAR’s culture, elevate performance, and impact retention by actively and intentionally cultivating employee engagement. RISE will accomplish these aims by supporting Talent Management and Human Resources (TMHR) initiatives, developing new initiatives as appropriate, and personally inviting colleagues into deeper engagement in the JH DAR mission and our DAR community
DRIVE
The mission of DRIVE is to actively and intentionally promote and foster greater diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and cultural competence within the DAR community, its constituents (alumni, donors, and volunteers), and initiatives. In line with the larger Johns Hopkins Institutions, DRIVE is deeply committed to ensuring its DEI initiatives are in support of the dignity and equality of all persons—inclusive of sex, marital status, pregnancy, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and veteran status.
DRIVE will advise DAR’s Vice President, Executive Team, and its larger community by providing representation, leadership, voice, and recommendations towards the ongoing commitment to build a diverse and inclusive environment that embraces these core values.
